Starting back up soon

I had the silly idea to create a blog to narrate my finishing of Correspondence of Thieves.

Work will be resuming soon. I am suspending other projects until this is finished. It's about time this multi-year project came to a conclusion.

I hope you don't mind if I create a syndicated feed of this blog on livejournal, so I can keep updated on it via my friends page.

I don't mind... as long as you show it to me so I can see what you're talking about. I do not know that any of that means. :)

Okay, in no particular order...

Livejournal is a blogging site somewhat like blogger, except that it has a number of nifty features blogger lacks (it also lacks some features blogger has, but anyway).

One of the greatest differences between the two is the 'friends' system. When I post an entry in my livejournal I can set various levels of security on the entry: I can make it private, so that I am the only person who can see it; I can make it public, so that Joe Arbitrary Internet User can see it; or I can restrict it so that it is only visible to a group of other livejournal users whose accounts have been added to a list of 'friends' (or a subgroup of the same). Each livejournal user also has a 'friends page' which aggregates the posts that people in their friends list have made (that they have access to see) into one page for easy reading. To get some rough idea, this is my livejournal page (most of my posts are friends locked, I note, so they aren't visible to the wider net) and this is my friends page (which, again, will be showing you a subset of the posts I can see, as many of my friends restrict access too).

Livejournal also allows threaded discussions on each entry, and it builds on this with the concept of 'communities', which operate vaguely like forums. There's also Syndicated Feeds, which are special journals that obtain their content by polling the rss/Atom feed provided by a site, parsing out the content into a vaguely sane form, and putting it into a form that can be viewed on the friends pages of people who subscribe to the feed.

And, here is the cotnovels syndicated feed on LJ.

Ahh, I see now. Well, if that's easier than actually visiting the blog, go for it. :)
